Exclamation No locked chests in Diablo 3
It appears there will no longer be chests in Diablo 3 which require a key to open:

Bashiok Wrote:There have been a few discussions about chests, what they meant in the previous game, and what they'll mean in Diablo III. Currently there are no locked chests, and it's not something we're looking to reintroduce for now. We have discussed varying chest quality and types, adding randomness not only to the appearance of a chest but also the value of items it may drop or possibly specifically what types of items it's guaranteed to drop. Mix it up a bit and make finding a chest exciting, but make finding a special chest something even rarer and more exciting. It could certainly make exploring the entire floor of a dungeon more compelling before moving on.

RE: No locked chests in Diablo 3
Heh!, finally, I think this is a good thing, I had times when I couldn't open chests because I didn't had a key, and the drops from chests are definitely a improvement, I was tired of getting scroll of town portal or crappy items most of the time ! I hope that this system will be much better Veryhappy

Yeah its a step in the right direction as far as I am concerned. Not having to worry about keys and a bit more variety should add to the game's overall enjoyment and excitement level.

with or without the overall keys ... I think the level of enjoyment and excitement will be the same Grin there are allot of things in the game that makes this matter unimportant ^_^ but its a good think for sure :P
But I hope the game will not drop so much in difficulty ... now the key... who knows what they will do to the game :\ I want the difficulty of diablo 2 at least Grin playing a easy game its just not a challenge Grin

RE: No locked chests in Diablo 3
Locked chests werent really that great anyways, the best they would drop is a Gem of some sort or a rare peice of armour or weapon...

In D3 IMO they should make chests appear randomly in levels, and if they dont appear as often in D3 as they did in D2 than they should have greater valued items in them...
